Scrappy Little Nobody – Anna Kendrick

I did it again! I don’t know why. I bought another biography from a female comedian/actress that I don’t really care that much for. I mean, I think Anna Kendrick is cool, but she hasn’t profoundly impacted my life.

So why did I purchase and read her biography?

Scrappy Little Nobody: that sounds like me. So I was hoping her story would be relatable.

It isn’t heaps, as it turns out. But still, I enjoyed this read. It gave me a few chuckles.

It was cool to hear about her dedication from a really young age to her work. Commuting all day on a bus to New York for an audition; having to live several months away from her family to perform in stage shows.

The fame came later, after all the hard work of her childhood and teenage years. Our beloved Pitch Perfect star was not always well known, and did not always have a lot of money. It’s really the classic struggling actor story, but she made her way through okay.

I like that Kendrick throws in humour and normal life things, like dealing with grief, loss, friendships, dating and disappointment.

And most of all, it’s a relief to know that even hugely famous people get overwhelmed with life.

I think I need to become perfect all at once, so I keep getting overwhelmed and putting it off. I can’t remember the last time that I didn’t have something hanging over my head. There are usually about thirty to eighty things. Is that normal? Don’t tell me. If it’s not, I’m a jerk. If it is, that’s super depressing, and I know I’ll just use “this is normal” as an excuse to procrastinate even more.

So, yeah it’s normal to have ‘thirty to eighty things’ spinning around in your head all the time, I can confirm. Nice to know it isn’t just me. It’s the reason I haven’t written my book yet, why I haven’t made a website to start my own copywriting business, why I’m not fit, why my house isn’t nicely decorated… and a million other things.
